most original costume

our pumpkin that we carved to look like a pirate skull.
the girls and richie in their costumes.
we went to our ward's pumpkin carving and costume contest on tuesday night. the girls and richie wore their halloween costumes, and we carved our pumpkin to look like a pirate skull (lucy's choice).

richie and the awards he won for most original costume (a giant chocolate bar and a certificate)

we didn't win anything for our pumpkin, but richie won most original costume for his samurai outfit that he made all by himself. what i mean by made all by himself is that he got the idea from the internet, and then sewed the thing and even made the shoes from rope and hemp. he wasn't going to wear it, but i convinced him to. i bet he's glad he wore it now!

the pumpkin patch

lucy's preschool class took a field trip to the pumpkin patch this morning, and jayne and i met her there. i got some cute pictures of jayne, but lucy wanted nothing to do with me when she was there. if i even tried to talk to her, she'd run off with some classmates. has my coolness already worn off that my own preschooler doesn't want to be seen with me? do i already embarass her? i did sneak in some pictures when they were posing her class for some, though.

37 weeks

for those of you who really wanted to see a picture of my baby belly, here it is. i'm warning you, though, it's not pretty... :D

5 years!

yesterday was mine and richie's 5 year anniversary. i can not believe how far we have come! after just 5 years, we have 2 3/4 kids, and a mortgage! :D
we had a fun day celebrating with our girls and our friends. we took the girls to the park in the morning, and showed up right as everyone was showing up for a birthday party. i've learned that i don't really enjoy sharing the park with a bunch of older kids who trample my own sweet girls! call me selfish.
we went to the fall festival the library had yesterday afternoon, and the girls got to wear their halloween costumes. they had fun little games and harlin was there making balloon animals for everyone (jayne chose snoopy, and lucy chose a purple poodle). juice the moose was there, but the girls wanted nothing to do with him. he attempted to wave at jayne and she bursted into tears, while lucy hid behind shelves of books until he left. i'm pretty sure i was the same way at their age. too bad...
we had a barbecue last night with our friends, and had some super yummy food. and after the girls were in bed, i totally kicked richie's butt at monopoly! i'd say it was a pretty good day!

Air Force One

it turns out that president bush was in town today, and when we were attempting to take my father-in-law to the airport to catch his plane, the president was on his way to the airport to catch his! all paths to the airport were blocked by police cars, and we actually had to wait at the side of the road until they got the ok to let people go to the airport. when we did get there, we got to see Air Force One in all of it's gigantic glory! i attempted to take a picture as it was driving down the runway, and only got the tail end of it.

so, we circled around the airport terminal to see if we could catch the plane on it's way back, and again, only got the tail end of it.

it was still really cool to get to see it, it's really huge, and atleast i can say i've been within a block of president george w. bush! rumor has it that he's moving back to midland, too!
