my island

My Father-in-law agreed to make me a kitchen island for my birthday, and yesterday, matt and ashley brought it over to our house in ashley's truck. it's really nice, and since our kitchen is more long than wide, we use it as extra counter space up against the wall. i just need to get me a bigger kitchen, and i could actually use it as an island! i'm super excited to finally have it here, and bruce did an excellent job making it. i guess i should also give props (i'm a dork) to richie for designing it. yay!

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

It was a really nice day outside today, so we took the girls outside to play in the backyard. they had fun throwing sand, and crawling on the slides. We even filled up the kiddie pool so the girls could soak. lucy was the only one to get in, though, jayne seemed to be scared to get in for some reason.

i watched E today. i hadn't seen her in over a week because lucy was sick last week. She seems to have grown so much in the past week, and i love her smile. i tried to get a pic of it, but by the time the camera took the picture, she wasn't smiling anymore. that's one downside of a digital camera, but i think that's probably the only downside! She's practically crawling now. She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth, and you can see the concentration in her face when she's thinking about how to move toward that toy that's 6 inches away from her. So cute!

potty success???

so, jayne seems to be doing fairly well with the potty training. today, she's been getting on the potty like every 15 minutes just so she can squeeze somethin' out and get a sticker or a pooh stamp. i still haven't managed to get her to go poo in the potty, anybody got any tips? i can't remember what i did to get lucy to go. i probably bribed her with candy, and i've been trying that with jayne, but so far, nothing. she did do well at church yesterday, no accidents!

So, i think we're gonna try the potty training thing with jayne. things went smoothly with lucy last year, so maybe it'll be easy with jayne. we'll soon find out. i have her running around the house today without a diaper, and i'm taking her to the potty every hour or so. so far, she hasn't had any accidents, but then, we've only been at it for maybe 2 hours...

We bought her some "big girl" undies this morning at the store, she even picked them out. i told her she can wear them if she goes potty in the potty. i'm worried that i picked the wrong day to start this because the rest of the week is gonna be a little busy, but maybe it won't be a problem. here's hopin...

corsicana, texas

Richie has been leaving town recently for work to work on an oil rig in east texas (corsicana area). he's coming back tonight from the third trip he has made out there in the past 2 months. the girls and i really miss him when he's gone, but atleast he gets to work on really cool, really big machinery, and he gets paid extra, too!

my sister's baby

I've been watching my sister's little girl a day or two a week, for a few months now, so my sister can sleep. She works over night in the nursery at the hospital. Her little girl is 7 months old now, and she was born 12 weeks early september 1st. She is doing so well, and she is the cutest little thing! My girls adore her, and i think having her around is definately going to help prepare them for our little one later this year!

Lucy has been really sick this weekend. i'm not sure why, but she's been running a high fever since saturday, and she's so miserable. I really hope she starts feeling better soon.
Jayne has decided to start using the potty regularly, and i didn't really have to do anything! Even if she doesn't have to go, she'll sit there until she goes just so she can get a Pooh stamp on her hand. My girls are getting so big! And just in time, too, because we're 11 weeks pregnant this week!
