my sister and her husband and their little girl, emma, had a family portrait taken after emma turned one. i thought they were so cute, and figured i should share the cuteness!

snip, snip

jayne's hair has been a little out of control for a couple of weeks now, and lucy's hair was getting too long. i don't mind it if she lets me braid it or do something cute to it, but she just wants to let it hang in her face, so i let her choose if she wants to cut it, or let me style it. tonight, she decided she wanted me to cut it. jayne's needed a trim, too, so i brought out the scissors. this was actually jayne's first hair cut, and she's 2 1/2! i wonder if i should have kept the hairs i cut and put them in her baby book. too late now, they're mingling among lucy's hairs now in the trash can.

so, anyway, here are a couple of before pics (really just pictures taken a few days "before" i cut their hair). notice how lucy is showing some leg. silly girl...

here they are being cute before preschool last week.

and here they are after. you can't tell i cut jayne's really, because i didn't trim that much off (and i also didn't realize that i missed that section to the left until after i took this picture), but look at that face!

there's the short side of jayne's hair, and here's a good view to lucy's new do. doesn't she look super excited?!and here it is again. it turned out so cute, and i'm excited because now her hair won't be as tangled up because she won't let me do anything with it. yay!

first day of preschool

lucy went to her first day of preschool on tuesday this week. she goes every tuesday and thursday, and she's so excited! we got her a new lunch box (with disney princesses on it even), and i packed her a lunch. she had her little backpack that she had gotten over the summer, and even brought home a few worksheets that she worked on in class in it! when jayne and i dropped her off in her classroom, she just grabbed a book and sat down to look at it. when it was time for me to leave, she didn't even bother to look up and say goodbye. we had met her teacher last week, so she was already familiar with her and the classroom. i worried all day about how well she would do, and if she would eat the lunch i had packed for her. when we picked her up, she had her bag on and was ready to go. she had a great day, and i worried for nothing! no one shed even one tear (except for jayne, she wanted to stay when we dropped lucy off), and lucy even ate all of her lunch. it was a little strange being home alone with jayne. it's actually much easier to get stuff done around the house when lucy is home as well, because then she's distracted and has someone to play with. she kept following me around asking me to watch a movie with her, or do something for her. i did get my bathrooms cleaned, though. so, lucy's first day of preschool was a success, and tomorrow, she gets to go back.
